Propane Patio Heaters: Not all propane patio heaters can be considered a portable propane heater because they are simply too large and too heavy to be portable. Propane space heaters: The classic portable propane heater is the space heater. Propane space heaters can be found in a wide range of sizes depending on the area you need to heat. They do heat the air in the room, and they may or may not require electricity to run. A typical propane space heater, which can be used indoors can heat an area up to 300 square feet. They weigh less than 20 pounds and cost between $100 and $150.
